CLEAR CELL SARCOMA OF RECTUS SHEATH

Abstract
Malignant tumors arising from tendons and aponeuroses are rare. Among those reported, most have been interpreted as synovial sarcoma or fibrosarcoma until Enzinger (1965) described a new type which he called "clear-cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses". This tumor is roughly spherical, firm and usually well-defined. In microscopic findings, this tumor is consisted of compact nests and fascicles of pale staining round or fusiform cells of epithelioid appearance. The cellular aggregates are enclosed by delicate fibrous septa merging with tendinous or aponeurotic tissue. We had experience of I case of clear cell sarcoma which arising from the rectus sheath. This tumor was excised widely and its defect was covered with the contalateral rectus muscle flap and skin graft. The ipsilateral axillary lymph nodes were dissected simultaneously. A total of 4000 rads of radiation were given postoperatively.
